Next Planned Litter

The next planned litter from two parents with excellent bloodlines is expected by the end of August 2023. In 2022, Skif was the junior male dog of the year in the annual competition of the American Akita and Primitive Dog Association, which is one of the breed associations in Hungary. Our Famke is still an excellent mother raising the two puppies we have from the previous litter. One of them, Alma, won the title of International Junior Champion this year, and then proved herself in the adult class and became the Champion of Hungary, Slovenia and Serbia.

The American Akita

American Akita that loves and a loyal guardian of his family, stubborn, playful, loves the cold, and grateful for the care. When you meet him, you will immediately recognize him for his robust appearance, thick legs and curvy tail, but before you pet him, ask his owner what mood he is in.

Akitas are Fearless

What is never debated is the Akita’s historical and famous combination of fearlessness and loyalty. These traits were once put to the test at the London Zoo, when a Sumatran tiger cub was orphaned. The zookeepers needed special help in raising the cub, and they chose an Akita puppy for this important task. They knew the Akita would not be frightened and could engage in play that would help the tiger cub with necessary life lessons. Moreover, the Akita’s dense fur would protect him from sharp claws. The pup’s inherent loyalty to his playmate would provide desired companionship and protection for the bewildered, orphaned cub. The Akita served in the role successfully and “retired” from the job when the tiger reached near-adulthood.

The american akitas need lovely but strict disciplines from their early ages. We need to grant a special training that compnsates the stuborn willfulness of his instinct. His agressive and hunting tendencies should be controlled from the very beginning.

The quick answer is to feed the adult american akita with premium dry food twice a day. In addition, many people say several things about what can or should be given to them. Whatever is said we must be sure not to overfeed them. As they growth, be cautious not to put an extra strain on their legs.

On a leash. Always on a leash. Remember, Akitas are courageou and their hunting instincts are strong! He will walk in this manner By nature, it’s hard to them to accept another dog, especially of the same sex, so usually it does not work just to “have a touch of noses,” which would be the beginning of playing. However, they love to move, need company that is good for their health anyway.

The American Akita doesn’t really need special care compared to other kinds of dogs, perhaps it is even simpler than many other breeds. However, the protection of their feet and stomach is worth highlighting. To protect their joints, we can add some health supplements, and the dangers to their stomachs and digestive systems can be avoided by feeding them two times a day and then letting them to rest.

The love cold and hate the heat. The best is to keep them outside all over the year. Important to provide them a suitable dog house that is dry even if it rains and some sadow against the heat of the sun.

Fortunatelly, they do not need special grooming but only bathing, cutting claw cutting and clearing their ears. There is no need to cut their hears hoever in cae of shedding the fallen hear must be removed by comb.

They ador the company of people and activity so walking is really important for them. The classic play with a ball may be boring for them so don’t be disappointed if they do not pring beck the ball. They like to play with any object that can be taken in their mouth, can be chewed and can be dragged. Care & Play

If you consider that there is nothing to do with your akita than most probably you have missed somthing. There are several articles about American Akitas, which emphasize that Akita is not a good choice for first-time dog owners. This is true partly. If you have someone who support you in the traning and care of akitas and you follow firm and lovefull disciplines of tranings then your dog will make you joyfull. An Akita may not be a indefinitely obedient pet, he will be waggis in all of his actions. Be cautious of his leg and weight not to overload the joints!
